Stop-Loss, starring Ryan Phillippe, Channing Tatum, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is seriously one of the best movies of 2008. Here’s a brief synopsis:
Decorated Iraq war hero Sgt. Brandon King (Ryan Phillippe) makes a celebrated return to his small Texas hometown following his tour of duty. He tries to resume the life he left behind with the help and support of his family and his best friend Steve Shriver (Channing Tatum) who served with him in Iraq. Along with their other war buddies Brandon and Steve try to make peace with civilian life. Then against Brandon s will the Army orders him back to duty in Iraq which upends his world. The conflict tests everything he believes in: the bond of family the loyalty of friendship the limits of love and the value of honor.

My favourite scene with Ryan Phillipe was the scene in Crash when he shot the kid in the passenger seat because he thought the kid was reaching for a gun; only to find out that the kid was actually reaching for his similar religious trinket.

It’s gotta be Joseph Gordon-Leavitt dealing with his childhood sexual abuse and the continual cycles of dysfunction in ‘Mysterious Skin’. He is also excellent in ‘Brick’. Who knew Tommy from ‘3rd rock’ had so much potential?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is an excellent actor. He was wonderful in Mysterious Skin. I watch all his movies. He made a movie in 98 called “Sweet Jane” where he breaks your heart!

I have to agree with many of the previous posts….Cruel Intentions, when Ryan does the right thing at the end of the movie and “outs” his sister…hopefully, preventing her from hurting anyone else.
